The Manager as Motivator - click here for more informationDo What You Love and the Motivation Will Follow, is Principle Four from my new book, The Manager as Motivator. I adapted it from the title of one of my favorite books, Do What You Love, the Money Will Follow, by Marsha Sinetar and it is something in which I believe strongly. I’ve tried to live my life that way, sometimes more successfully than other times, and I know that when I am at my best I am doing what I love to do.

I am convinced that anyone can become a highly motivating leader, even under the most difficult conditions. Long term, organizational success depends upon employees who are fully engaged and contributing their most creative energy to meeting meaningful goals. You have the ability to create the conditions for that kind of work environment.

Transforming Work - click here for more information I am also convinced any one of us can live the fully human, rich, lives of which we are capable. I know that long term, personal success depends upon deciding that you will not be a victim or go through life on autopilot, and by taking charge of your life and wringing the most exuberance, pleasure, and significance out of it.

I wish I were perfect, but I’m not, and I don’t imagine you are either. Along the way, it’s been the people I know and love who have made the difference in good times and in bad. It’s been the folks who are passionate about their work, care deeply about the relationships they have and, most importantly, are enthusiastic about life from whom I have learned the most.

In my presentations I try to present ideas, based upon my own and many others’ research and life experiences, that are real, actionable strategies for living life to the fullest and for creating healthy, productive work environments.

What people are saying:

The nine things that anyone can start today to create passionate work are now listed on my bulletin board as a quick and visible reminder to both me and my colleagues on how we can create a more passionate workplace.
- Jaye B. Pierce, President, Human Resources Association of Treasure Valley.
Michael, I wanted to thank you again for the excellent facilitation of our Regional American Public Works Association Conference last November. Your presentation, Leading with Passion, really spoke to the opportunities leaders of AWPA chapters, leaders in companies, and leaders in state and local government have to create highly enjoyable and highly productive work environments. I would recommend you to anyone who is looking for a top level meeting facilitator, and you would make an excellent keynote speaker for any of our industry conferences.
- Michael Malloy, New Mexico Chapter Delegate
Your presentation, Passionate Work Environment, received rave reviews. Many participants shared how much they enjoyed you, and the profound message you delivered in a humorous, yet passionate style.
