If you are interested in how personal mission is related to self-directed learning as it is related to transformational learning take a look at an article called Life Mission and Adult Learning (2000) published in Adult Education Quarterly, which I wrote with Patricia Boverie. I recently decided to pull it out of moth balls and post it on my website because I think the Life Mission and Adult Learning model described therein can be a useful reference for career development and other practitioners and also interesting for scholars in various venues.
