Motivational Tools for Noncharismatic Leaders
Do you have leaders in your organization who just can’t seem to motivate
their employees? Do some of them have the personality of a dish rag?
Charisma is not all it is often cracked up to be. It is overrated, an
excellent motivator doesn’t need it, and sometimes it causes more harm
than good. You have the ability to be a great motivator even if you are
shy, your hands are tied by policies and procedures, or you don’t get
the support you think you need from your board or others in your
organization. There is plenty of evidence you have the tools at your
disposal to create highly motivated staff and volunteers even if you
don’t carry that “aura” most of us just don’t seem to have.
This fast paced, interactive presentation will provide simple how-to’s
you can begin executing immediately. Michael will lead you through
proven motivational principles that anyone can use to increase employee
and volunteer effort and persistence. Using examples and easy-to-use
strategies, he will show how to create highly motivational environments
focused on achieving challenging goals.
Michael will be drawing upon his research, experience consulting with
leaders at all organizational levels, and his forthcoming book,
The
Manager as Motivator. This session will be useful for leaders at any
level of your organization who don’t seem to possess the so-called
magical magnetism associated with “charisma” − or even if they do.
Creating Passionate Work Environments
Do you ever feel like you just seem to exist, managing to get through
each day until 5:00 p.m., each week until Friday, and each year until
retirement? We can’t live each day unhappily as if we were making
payments on a happier future that may never come due. Would the people
who surround you describe you as passionate about your work? Is your
organization a place where people love to come to work? More and more
hard evidence is showing that the so-called ‘soft’ issues, like finding
meaning in your work, having fun, and creating a nurturing environment,
have a direct relationship to productivity and organizational success.
Join Michael Kroth in a presentation designed to help you create passion
for your work. He will share strategies you can start today to create a
more passionate work environment in your organization. Drawing upon his
research and the book he co-authored with Patricia Boverie,
Transforming
Work: The Five Keys to Achieving Trust, Commitment, and Passion in the
Workplace, Michael will give you fundamental keys for finding meaning,
joy, and nurturance. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to learn
what can ignite the passion in your work, your organization, and your
life.

Your topic on creating a more passionate workplace is so timely and applicable to all of us in the HR profession, as these days it seems to be a constant struggle to both find and retain key talent. The nine things that anyone can start today to create passionate work are now listed on my bulletin board as a quick and visible reminder to both me and my colleagues on how we can create a more passionate workplace.
- Jaye B. Pierce, President, Human Resources Association of Treasure Valley.
As professionals we need to keep our own flames glowing, and sometimes the stress, the uncertainties, and the challenges in general can be overwhelming. Your list of 9 things anyone can start doing tomorrow to create passionate work was practical and insightful, and just the kind of thing our audience members needed to reinforce and rejuvenate the love they have for their work. Your speech was very well received by our attendees and it’s our pleasure to recommend you to any group that is looking for an enlightening speaker.
Continued success in sharing your enthusiasm for passion in the workplace.
- Pamela R. Betz, Conference Chair, Conference Chair, Southwest Regional Conference, Association for Fundraising Professionals
Thank you for your gift to The Community Leadership Association’s 23rd Annual
Leadership Conference in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Our nearly 400 participants
thoroughly enjoyed your presentation and style. Your use of personal examples of passion in your life and workplace allowed the audience to truly grasp your concepts. Our participants were also thrilled to see their responses to your pre-survey incorporated into your presentation and the follow-up newsletter article. They deeply appreciated your taking time to sign books, as well. CLA members are passionate about their communities but your presentation allowed them to remember that their passion must transcend all they do. I would wholeheartedly recommend your services and presentation to anyone seeking to lead and live with passion.
